An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Sous Chef to join a highly regarded Michelin Star restaurant with rooms in the Cumbria countryside. This intimate, ingredient-led kitchen operates a refined tasting-led offering with a strong focus on seasonal produce, technical execution, and exceptional guest experience.
This role would suit a passionate chef looking for a long-term position within a stable, ambitious team where creativity, standards, and progression are genuinely valued.
Due to the restaurant’s location, you will need to be able to drive.
You’ll be wondering what’s in it for you as the Sous Chef…
- £40,000 per annum plus circa £2,000 to £4,000 service charge
- 40 hours plus paid overtime
- Temporary accommodation available
- 4-day working week

- Structured holiday periods throughout January (3 weeks), June (1 week), and October (1 week), plus an extra week
About the Role…
- 30-cover fine dining restaurant with rooms
- Breakfast service Thursday to Sunday & Dinner service Wednesday to Saturday
- Additional monthly special services, including Sunday lunch, Saturday lunch, and seasonal events
- Hands-on leadership role within a small, professional brigade
- Opportunity to contribute creatively to menu development and kitchen progression
Responsibilities as the Sous Chef…
- Running and supporting all sections of the kitchen as required
- Managing ordering, stock control, and kitchen rotas
- Assisting with menu development and seasonal dishes
- Training and mentoring junior chefs
- Maintaining consistently high culinary and presentation standards
Experience Required…
- Experience within 3 Rosette and/or Michelin-level kitchens
- Minimum 2 Rosette experience at Junior Sous Chef level or above
- Strong all-round cooking ability with excellent attention to detail
- Proven longevity within previous key roles
- Pastry knowledge would be highly advantageous
- Calm, professional, and team-focused approach
